Karen Voepel makes her home on the eastern plains of Colorado. She is a reference photographer for western media artists. Karen is the official photographer for Ken, Curtis and Karen Southern Plains Photogaphy and also provides photographs for Southern Plains Land Trust. Her images have been published in several periodicals and she has won numerous awards. Ranch life, horses, bison and wild prairie often are her subjects.
Karen’s photographic skills took off in the early 2000s. She has attended many classes and workshops from prominent photographers such as Gary Ladd and Dan Ballard, also from the Santa Fe School of Photography and Arizona Photoscapes.
She enjoys her skills from being yoga certified and providing retreats for health and wellness. She graduated in business at Alabama State University. A majority of her work career has been spent as a court reporter for various Colorado judges eventually establishing a court reporting business in eastern Colorado. She plays the Native American flute, hikes, travels and spends time with family. When time permits, she finds herself tromping around the countryside with her dog Sisko Kid taking photos.
